Short Biography

Beomseok Nam is an associate professor in the school of electrical and computer engineering at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (a.k.a UNIST).

He received the B.S. and M.S. in computer science from Seoul National University in 1997 and 1999 respectively, and received his PhD degree in computer science from University of Maryland, College Park in 2007.

Before joining UNIST, he was a faculty research associate at UMIACS and University of Maryland, College Park in 2007, and a senior member of technical staff at Oracle located in Redwood Shores, CA from 2007 to 2010.

His research interest includes high performance distributed query processing middleware systems, multiple query optimization, multi-dimensional indexing, data intensive computing, decentralized scalable systems, Grid and Cloud computing.
